Throughout my journey in healthcare, I have been privileged to walk alongside the many faces of human existence. I have witnessed the profound toll of illness, gazed into the eyes of those preparing to leave this world, and felt the stillness of bodies where life once thrived. Yet, there is one place that consistently resonates with a sacred and sobering power, a place that challenges my understanding of the fragility and grace of a single breath: the operating room.
The Mystery of the "Other Dimension"
Recently, I found myself standing in a bustling surgical room. While I have observed surgeries before, this particular moment felt charged with spiritual significance. I watched as a patient, a person who had just moments ago been speaking and smiling, surrendered completely to the process of anesthesia. In an instant, they were transported into another dimension. They became still, silent, and unaware, laying their very life in the hands of others.
In that room, I counted the "Angels of the Clinic." Seven dedicated individuals surrounded that one patient: the surgeon, the assistant, the scrub nurse meticulously passing instruments, the circulator, the imaging technician, and the students observing and learning. Together, they created a symphony of expertise, performing in perfect harmony. In that total moment of vulnerability, the surgeon emerged as a steward of life, while the assistants served as ministers of mercy, united in their singular mission to restore.
The Power of Blind Trust
What struck me most was the profound trust embodied by the patient. As they were maneuvered and operated on, completely unaware of the battle being fought for them, they surrendered their fate to the medical team. Upon waking, they hear the words: "Everything went well." And they believe it. They have no proof of the process, yet they rest in the word of the expert.
This moment reflects our own journey with the Creator. If we can place such unwavering trust in a human being, how much more should we place our faith in the One who intricately designed every single human been? As I stood there, the words of the Psalmist echoed in my spirit, revealing the true Architect behind the surgical mask "God".
Psalm 139:14-16
"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them."
Life is a Gift, Not a Right !
We often go through our daily lives without pausing to appreciate the miracle of our breaths, forgetting that each breath is a precious gift from Heaven. In the spiritual realm, we resemble the patient, unaware of the unseen forces surrounding us, the unseen battles being fought, and the grace that sustains our hearts while we sleep.
My message for you today is this : Being alive and in good health is not a coincidence; it is divine favor. Your life is not exclusively yours; it belongs to the One who intricately wove you together in that hidden place.
Do not let another day pass without honoring this grace. Take a moment to reflect on the masterpiece that is your life. Since your very existence depends on Him, dedicate your strength into acts of kindness, into spreading love, and into respecting the temple He has entrusted to you.
Couronnée De Gloire, your life is God poem, make it a testimony of His glory.
